A Replication Study of the Domestic Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (DVRAG).

Perpetrators of general violence, sexual violence, and domestic violence share similar traits and characteristics. Subtypes and personality disorders may play a role in committing an offense and subsequent recidivism. The Domestic Violence Risk Appraisal Guide (DVRAG) is an actuarial assessment tool used to assess the recidivism rates among domestic violence batterers. The test was constructed and normed in Ontario, Canada. The current study's aim was to replicate the predictive validity of the DVRAG. The DVRAGs were scored from 64 files consisting of males that completed a 52 week domestic violence treatment program in Orange County, California. The samples consisted of different races such as Asian Americans, Hispanics, Caucasian, African Americans, and other ethnic origins that ranged in age from 20 to 62. The results of the current study affirm the DVRAG's high predictive validity.
