Late Pleistocene human adaptations in eastern North America: Evidence of universal adaptations.

Two general models have been proposed to explain Early Paleoindian lifeways in North America: a single continental adaptation and a model of regionalization that argues for distinct regional adaptations, as groups respond to changes in environment and the distribution of resources. This dissertation evaluates evidence of regional Early Paleoindian adaptations in eastern North America. The results of the three studies carried out as part of this dissertation suggests that patterns of Paleoindian mobility, tool use and production were similar throughout eastern North America.
