摘要

In this thesis the use of CaO as a sorbent for the reduction of SO 3 and H2SO4 in flue gas from a power plant was examined. An apparatus was designed to create SO3 by oxidizing SO2 then in turn adding H2O to bond with the SO 3 to make sulfuric acid (H2SO4). This gas containing sulfuric acid is then passed through a bed of CaO and analyzed to examine the remaining content of H2SO4. A separate sampling apparatus was designed to sample the gas before and after entering the CaO bed. Experiments were performed for various temperatures, residence times, and H2O contents. A model for predicting the capture of H 2SO4 was developed from the experimental data.
