摘要

Internetworking among heterogeneous networks and the various issues related to it such as end-to-end network performance and quality of service has been an active field of research in the recent years. This thesis deals with the internetworking between the wireless and the wired networks, for the provision of services with a priori known quality level over both the environments. More specifically, the internetworking between the wireless LANs and the wired LANs over the Internet backbone based on DiffServ are considered. The focus is on the mapping among the traffic classes of the two networks at the point where they converge. Simulation results indicate that proper mapping is very essential among the traffic classes of each environment and is essential for achieving the desired end-to-end traffic characteristics.
