Research on radiowave propagation has received considerable interest for its many applications in narrowband communications and ultra-wideband (UWB) radar systems. In this thesis, a theoretical method---the combined method of ray tracing and diffraction (CMRTD)---is developed to investigate the narrowband and UWB propagation in various environments. The theory of CMRTD is detailed. Prediction of narrowband radiowave propagation in the vegetated residential area and the forward modeling of the through-wall sensing (TWS) using UWB signal are carried out. Numerical results are presented. Besides, the ranges of the validity of CMRTD are determined.
