The complexity of globalization produces new subject positions that transcend the existing center/periphery, West/ Rest paradigm. Third World migrant women, in particular, embody and personify the complexity of identity formation in intersections of such social categories as gender, race/ethnicity, class, nationality, and so on. Study of marriage migrant women--construction of their identities though multilayered discourse--in ex/neo-colonial South Korea may give us a chance to advance our understanding of the complex relations between subject, power, and representation in the era of globalization.;The research studied discourse about marriage migrant women in South Korean newspaper content and messages on a certain Internet bulletin board and illustrated how certain historical contextual conditions in South Korea affected the creation and distribution of the discourse about this particular group of people or social members; how the discourse was distinct from, and resonating with, the well-identified patriarchal Orientalist discourse; and how the discourse was created and applied to construct identities of the marginalized women in ways that contribute to the production and reproduction of dominant social orders/power relations in South Korea.
