Utility in Creative Writing Unveiling Versatile & Beneficial Attributes of Poetry.

A digital and printed book of textual and visual poetry accompanies this essay and was developed as a creative thesis project to display understanding of all topics researched. The following topics are demonstrated through this essay and an accompanying poetry anthology: poetry and its wide utility through textual and visual media, the healing attributes of poetry for a more positive lifestyle through textual and poetic introspection, the versatile nature of poetry in exploring social consciousness through composing with an emotionally aware style, the internally dialogic aspects of poetry and how it can be directed by an aesthetic imperative, and the eco-voice; that poetry helps create as an advocate for environmentally intelligent and ecologically sensitive content. This contextual essay as a result of my creative research, demonstrates the ways in which the poetry I have written and designed expresses my learning and the value of the resources I used during my project.;The methods used in this paper are concerned primarily with textual and theoretical research due to the nature of the textual resources involved. Some ethical implications considered are maintaining a non-biased interpretation of any findings and considering the definition of certain vocabulary while maintaining consistency. This project as a whole, including both its creative and strictly academic counterparts, has been a challenging experience that has allowed me to grow as a writer and student.;Keywords: Visual Poetry, Ecopoetry, Indie Poetry, Healing Poetry, Social Consciousness.
