摘要

This project presents a new strategy to improve power-factor of the induction machine. This strategy consists in the connection of a voltage source converter to the rotor of an induction machine with wound rotor to improve its power-factor and to even achieve a purely resistive operation, while keeping the robustness of the cage induction machine (absence of rings). Considering the broad use of induction machines, this strategy which can be easily integrated on the rotor and which has the advantage to completely compensate the machine reactive power by using a small power with respect to the power involved on the stator side, represents a new energy solution to consumers and producers and a new research orientation for the manufacturers of the electric machines. This project offers a detailed study on: (1) the excitation of the induction machine by the rotor side and its effects on its reactive behaviour, and the possibility of adjustment of the power through the rotor side greatness only; (2) a complete modeling of a wound rotor induction machine with all experimental tests of identification of parameters. The validation of model is made by computer simulation; (3) new strategies which offer a flexibility control of the induction machine reactive power through the rotor side. Encouraging results of simulation were also presented during this study.
