The presence of even small quantities of polar constituents in industrial streams is known to strongly affect the foaming characteristics (foam tendency and stability), a phenomenon, which cannot be easily explained on the basis of conventional or static surface tension. The dynamic surface tension and foaming characteristics (foam tendency and stability) of several industrial streams were experimentally determined by previous investigators (Yang, 1996) using the differential maximum bubble pressure technique, and a modified Bikerman foam column. In this work, the resulting data were analyzed in order to determine the interfacial properties (e.g. static surface tension, surface pressure, effective diffusivity, short term approximate solution, long term approximate solution and interfacial elasticity) associated with the complex process of dynamic diffusion/adsorption of surface-active bi-polar molecules to the interface.
