This study seeks for the model of a good teacher-student relationship. Teaching involves learning and the teacher-student relationship is an important factor to decide the quality of a teaching-learning process. Jesus and Confucius have been revered as model teachers and scholars have studied them in the focus of their teaching. This study examines whether the two teachers' thoughts and relationships with their disciples in the educational practices can be good models for the teacher-student relationship. There are six criteria to examine this thesis: (1) Relationship as the Goal, (2) Particularity of Relationship, (3) Sympathy and Mutuality, (4) Voluntary Responsibility, (5) Natural Union, (6) Developing Student's Caring Capacity. These criteria were implied in the relational theories of two contemporary philosophers, Martin Buber and Nel Noddings.
