Introduction to math education analysis: A textbook for mathematics graduate teaching assistants.

Current publications used for introducing education to Mathematics Graduate Assistants articulate many of the particular principles and practices of education that have been established through research and application. Common considerations include administrative responsibilities, assessment, teacher preparation, the classroom environment, resources, feedback, specific methods, and student psychology. This thesis aims to be a broad synthesis of those fundamental concepts. It is a textbook that is patterned after upper-level undergraduate mathematics texts so as to be familiar to math graduate students. The text is organized with definitions at the beginning, followed by the establishment of general principles. The principles of learning and teaching are divided into four categories: students, teachers, classroom, and methods. Principles of evaluation and common administrative responsibilities follow. Each principle is justified by deduction or research, is illustrated by examples, and is supported through exercise sets provided for practice. Each section concludes with a set of practical applications.
