An examination of social characteristics and attitudes in a sample of police officers in a Southwestern city.

The research examined and identified the extent to which the characteristics of social dominance orientation and potential racial discrimination are present in a representative sample of police officers in a Southwestern city. A quantitative analysis of data collected using the Social Dominance Orientation (SDO6) and the Social Attitude Survey (QDI) instruments from a sample of police officers in a Southwestern city revealed the extent to which the characteristics of social dominance orientation and potential racial discrimination were present. The researcher, a police officer, utilized a convenience sampling approach with officers at the sample group's police Academy. Collected data was analyzed using non-parametric tests to test the hypotheses.
