Testing an evolutionary model of cooperation to managing commons: Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

Environmental conservation and cooperation are inseparable for success to be achieved. Contemporary models of cooperation from an evolutionary perspective have been outlined. Factors such as economics, marine biology, and cooperation were attributed to Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) as relatively less of this work has focused on this form of managed commons. Permanent and Temporal MPAs in Nusa Roviana village in the Solomon Islands were investigated. It was found that the temporal MPA might be susceptible to a breakdown in cooperation. The article is meant to be a catalyst for further study of MPA successes and failure due to sociocultural, and evolutionary cooperative factors.
