Nourishing weak friends: The effects of major power alliances on minor states' capabilities and dispute initiation.

摘要

The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the consequences of asymmetric alliances theoretically and empirically, with a special focus on the effects of major power alliances on minor partners. To this end, I develop theoretical models on the effects of major power alliances on minor partners' capability growth and militarized dispute initiation, and then conduct empirical tests on the theoretical models.
