摘要

The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate how single adult workers without dependents differ from other workers in the areas of life role salience, inter-role conflict, and coping strategies. As shown, there are gaps in literature examining the behaviors of the single adult worker without dependents, which are addressed in this dissertation. Single workers without dependents were identified from a quantitative survey of workers taken from a population of MBA graduates of a private Midwestern university. The results of this dissertation partially support the propositions that differences exist between single workers without dependents and other workers in the areas of job satisfaction, life role salience, work and non-work conflict, and coping strategies. Finally, this dissertation concludes with suggestions for incorporating the empirical results of this dissertation into organizational behavior literature.
