Physical activity levels of certified athletic trainers.

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to measure physical activity levels of certified athletic trainers in NATA district 2 and to compare the mean scores by age, job title, employment setting, years of experience etc.; Method. Two hundred thirty nine certified athletic trainers in NATA District 2 voluntarily participated in a descriptive type of research study. The Baecke Questionnaire of Habitual Physical Activity invented by Jos Baecke was used. The data was analyzed by factorial MANOVA, factorial ANOVA and A Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Significance was set at alpha level .05.; Findings. There were no significant differences of sport, work, leisure and total activity level among employment settings, between gender and among job titles. There was a significant weak positive relationship between years of experience and leisure activity level.; Conclusion. Athletic trainers are to serve as health providers, role models and mentors for athletes; therefore, they need to improve on managing their limited time for exercise in their hard schedules. This research also indicated that they applied their knowledge of health to their own benefits.
