摘要

This thesis is an investigation of the communication implications of emerging holistic approaches to HIV/AIDS care, support, prevention and treatment. This investigation is done through a case study of the Society for Serving Humanity's (SSH) Community-Based HIV/AIDS Care and support Programme. This study finds that as a result of a narrow understanding of communication, SSH has not recognized how communication happens within their HIV/AIDS Care and Support Programme. However, SSH has consistent communication about care and support, and stigma and discrimination, which facilitates HIV prevention.;This study also reflects upon the methodology used, the Adaptive Methodology for Ecosystem Sustainability and Health (AMESH). This study finds that while AMESH is challenging in terms of the quantity of data generated, and the amount of time it takes to analyse and present the data, it is effective for creating a broad-based understanding of the complex context in which SSH's HIV/AIDS care and support programme is located.
