Intensive use of agricultural pesticides in the L'Anguille River Watershed can lead to water quality problems to the major streams and their tributaries draining runoff, sediment, and nutrients from the area. Owing to its proximity to the Mississippi River there are chances of pesticides present in the L'Anguille River contributing to total pesticide load to the Mississippi River. This river is a major source of recreational water to a large geographic area, the degradation of its integrity from pesticide pollution becomes a critical issue that needs immediate attention of water managers. The overall purpose of conducting this study was to identify water-quality management strategies for mitigating and preventing pesticide-induced pollution in L'Anguille River. To achieve the objective two different modeling approaches, artificial neural networks and soil and water assessment tool, a computer simulation models were used for hydrological modeling of LRW. Limitations and capabilities of both the approaches were studied and reported.
