摘要

This project was done is collaboration with the LaRePE [14] (Laboratoire de recherche sur la performance des enterprises), one of the research labs of the Research Institute for SME [13] (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) of the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres [31].; For the last couple of years, the LaRePE has developed valuable expertise on the evaluation of enterprise performance. In particular, this led to the development in 1999 of a computerized diagnosis tool of enterprise performance based on a benchmarking approach: this system is called the PDG system. With the use of numerous data collected from a comprehensive questionnaire filled by an evaluated SME, this system diagnoses the enterprise performance. The diagnosis results, organized in terms of the enterprise' main business activities, are shown in a detailed report with colour graphics and texts. Moreover, this report contains recommendations to help the enterprise improve its performance. This system is a success and has been used by more than 500 enterprises from Canada, USA and France.
