摘要

Combined cycle power generation plants are becoming popular to generate power at higher efficiencies with reduced pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions. In the present work, the effect of steam injection, supplementary firing, and isentropic component efficiencies on the performance of combined cycle power plant is investigated. For a particular combined cycle power generation configuration, the effect of steam injection in the gas turbine combustor on the performance of topping cycle, bottoming cycle, fuel consumption, carbon dioxide emissions is investigated based on first and second laws of thermodynamics. Also, the effect of supplementary firing on the performance of the natural gas fired combined cycle unit is conducted. For a particular combined cycle configuration, the effect of component efficiencies of gas turbine, compressors, and the steam turbine on the combined cycle efficiency and on net power output is also conducted. The exergy analysis is also conducted to identify the sources of irreversibilities in the combined cycle power plant and their variation with operating conditions.
