Incremental force options training model: Peace officer safety training for the twenty first century.

摘要

This mixed methods action research project utilized focus groups and an electronic survey to examine current police officer safety training trends in the Province of British Columbia and details the benefits of including peak performance training philosophies in future programs. Historically, the principles of peak performance training have not been embraced by mainstream law enforcement trainers. The research indicates that including peak performance training principles, long associated with high level achievements in sport, within police officer safety training would be beneficial to all police officers in the province and is desired at all rank levels. The inclusion of peak performance training principles in police officer safety training is supported by current literature associated with military and law enforcement training and the principles of high level sport performance training have applications in police training.; All research was conducted in accordance with the ethical requirements of Royal Roads University.
