摘要

The objective of this thesis research study was to gain information on Canadian consumers' attitudes towards perceptions of food safety and agriculture-related environmental safety issues. The data used this thesis were collected through Canada-wide surveys conducted in January 2003 and October 2005 respectively.;Respondents' perceptions of food and agriculture related environmental safety as well as attitudinal and demographic information were obtained from the surveys. Analyses reported in this study suggest that gender, age, income and employment have appreciable impacts on risk attitudes and that trust in the food regulators and the marketing system are also significant influences on risk perceptions of various food and environmental safety issues. These findings give a better understanding of Canadian consumers' perceptions of risk and thus may contribute to policy makers' decision making.
