摘要

In this work we find an efficient method for stopping the pendulums oscillations, which is moving on a plane, by variations in the pendulum's length. This strategy was found casting the problem as an optimal control problem. We deduce the pendulum's governing equations and using the Pontryagin's Principle [3] we find optimal solutions to this problem.; Using a similar analysis we find strategies to stop the pendulum's oscillations which is moving in the space. We show graphically the effectiveness of ours strategies and make analytical and numerical comparisons.
