The purpose of this study was to use concept mapping and fashion design drawing to assess the effectiveness of the application of a Multimedia Assisted Learning (MAL) module for fashion design instruction in 120 undergraduates students enrolled in a Fashion Information and Analysis course at the Taiwan University of Technology. This study also used the Delphi technique to develop the Fashion Design Performance Assessment (FDPA) rubric for assessing the effectiveness of the application of a MAL module in fashion design instruction. The inter-rater reliability of using the FDPA rubrics was also incorporated.;This study utilized Static-group Comparison Design to compare students who receive fashion design instruction through the MAL modules and those who receive traditional instruction. Two instruments were used in this study: a concept map of this research-designed test and a fashion design drawing collection. The MAL module for fashion design was developed by using DreamWeaverRTM 8.0.;The researcher developed the FDPA rubric based on a Delphi Technique structured process for collecting ideas from 13 experts. The FDPA rubric consisted of six dimensions: (1) Theme, (2) Fashion Sense, (3) Innovation, (4) Aesthetics, (5) Entireness, and (6) Touching the Consumer's Heart as well as 24 additional criteria. Results indicated there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the fashion design concept map scores while there was not in the fashion design collection drawing scores. Additionally, this research project confirms high inter-rater reliability of using the FDPA rubrics developed by the Delphi technique to be an objective assessing fashion design performance.
