This study addresses learning styles in the workplace, specifically those of aviation maintenance technicians. It introduces this population to add to existing populations for learning style inventories based on Felder and Soloman's Index of Learning Styles (1994). This study proposes that the population of AMTs will assist I/O psychologists in understanding learning styles and allow training managers to tailor their development strategies to specific learning styles. Quantitative methods are used to determine which learning style(s) is the preferred method(s) for AMTs, as well as determining the relationship between these learning styles and test performance. To calculate these statistics, archived scores from aircraft maintenance introductory (initial) courses are used, paired with the results of the ILS. Descriptive statistics, a chi-square analysis, and an analysis of variance (ANOVA) are also used to determine the preferred style(s) and the relationship between learning styles and test performance. The answers to both research questions are presented, along with a discussion of these results and conclusions. Finally, recommendations for future research are presented.
