Minorities without health insurance: A matter of life and death.

Health insurance coverage is an essential element required for many individuals to obtain and maintain general health care services. However, ethnic Americans who are normally uninsured access less health services compared to white Americans, who typically are insured by private health coverage. Ultimately, the absence of insurance affects the lives of many ethnic Americans, who have been shown to exhibit poorer health status and higher morality rates.; Initially, it was assumed that ethnic Americans lacked health care insurance only because of their lower socioeconomic status, however, this research has discovered that race, age, gender, environmental locations, culture, and linguistics are additional factors, which only further widens the health care disparities existing between white and ethnic Americans.; Our government must implement social and public policies to help bridge the current health care gaps. However, in order to do so affordable health insurance is required for all Americans.
