第一人称指示语在中国作者和英语母语作者英语社会科学类论文中的应用——一项基于语料库的对比研究

摘要

英语已经被称为国际学术领域的通用语，因此英语学术写作，也已成为当今学术交流的重要渠道。对旨在学术领域获得成就的学者们而言，用英语进行学术论文写作是必不可缺的技能。而对于英语学术写作的标准，不同的学术写作者持有不同的观点，尤其是在英语作为第二语言的国家。对于第一人称指示语是否或者如何应用于学术写作，学术写作者们众说纷纭。为了能够真实的了解我国学者撰写英语学术论文的现状和水平，本文自建了两个小型语料库，通过对比分析找出国内学者和英语本族语者在使用第一人称指示语上的相同之处以及不同之处。
　　 通过研究，本文证实国内学者和英语本族学者在学术论文中都会使用第一人称指示语;而本研究卡方检验的结果显示在国内学者和英语本族学者的学术论文第一人称指示语的数量存在显著性差异;国内学者学术论文中单数第一人称指示语的使用频率明显低于英语本族学者学术论文中的频率，而复数第一人称指示语we却远高于英语本族学者学术论文中的频率。另外，国外学者（如Tang and John,1999; Hyland，2002;Martinez，2005等）对第一人称指示语的语篇功能进行了探讨和分类，本文作者选取了Hyland(2002)对于排外第一人称指示语(exclusive first person pronouns)的语篇功能的分类，包括陈述研究目的，阐明研究步骤，阐释观点，表明研究结果或发现。从数据中可以发现，国内学者较多的把排外第一人称指示语使用在“陈述研究目的”这一功能上，而英语本族学者则较多的是用排外第一人称指示语来“阐明研究步骤”从而来突显自己，强调自己在论文中的重要性。
　　 对于这一研究结果，本文作者给出了几个可能的解释。国内学者较多的使用复数第一人称指示语we而较少的使用单数第一人称指示语的原因可能源于亚洲集体主义文化，可能是受到了国内不同学者对第一人称指示语在学术论文中的使用的不同看法的影响，也可能是写作目的的不同。在第一人称指示语的语篇功能上，同样的原因使得国内学者尽量避免突显自己，而英语本族学者倾向于强调自己。
　　 本文中的定量及定性分析，揭示了国内学者和英语本族学者社会科学类学术论文第一人称指示语的使用特点，在一定程度上对英语学术写作提供了一些参考价值，帮助中国学者更好的撰写英语学术论文。
