This paper addresses ventilation principles to provide safe escape circumstances in escape corridorsrnparallel to the tunnel tube and at the tunnel portal. The pressure differences caused by the longitudinalrntunnel ventilation system in the tunnel tube and the overpressure system in the escape corridor arerndiscussed. The exit situation of the escape route, near the exit portals, is discussed and proposals tornincrease the safety are given. The results indicate that with minor modifications, the safety during arnfire situation can be increased.
