摘要

This paper describes a simplified and optimized calculation method to increase the efficiency of industrial-type narrow V-belt drives. The design procedure for V-belt drives consists of several steps including correction factors. Assuming a ratio smaller or greater than 1, there is an influence of the position of the small and the large pulley which has not been considered in the published standard procedures. The the novel procedure presented in this paper includes the calculation of the horse power rating for the driven pulley assuming that the ratio is equal to 1. The value determined has to be corrected by means of the contact surface only, if there is a ratio smaller or greater than 1.
