In order to investigate the effect of the height of application point of lateral loads and reinforcingsteel bars in walls and columns in improving the seismic behavior of confined concrete blockmasonry walls, an experimental research program is conducted. A total of twelve one-half scalespecimens are tested under repeated lateral loads. Specimens are tested to failure with increasingmaximum lateral drifts while a vertical axial load was applied and maintained constant. Thespecimens adopted are two-dimensional (2D) hollow concrete block masonry walls with differentparameters such as shear span ratio, inflection point and percent of reinforcement in confiningcolumns and walls. The heights of inflection point of walls considered are 0.67, 1.08 and 1.1times the height of the wall measured from the top of foundation beam. The constant verticalaxial stresses applied are 0, 0.84 and 1.08MPa, while the amount of reinforcements in horizontaland vertical directions are 0%, 0.08% and 0.18% and 0.18%, 0.36% and 0.64% respectively. Testresults obtained for each specimen include cracking patterns, load-deflection data, and strains inreinforcement and walls in critical locations. Analysis of test data showed that above parametersgenerate a considerable effect on the seismic performance of confined concrete block masonrywalls.
