摘要

Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become porous, fragile, thin and breakable. Osteoporosis is caused by loss of bone mineral content that leads to bone fractures or structural deformations of bone. The occurrence rate of osteoporosis is increasing significantly. At present, determination of the risk of osteoporosis is done by measuring the density of bone by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). Works have also been done on texture analysis of bone using texture analysis techniques. The purpose of this paper is to report on results of a proposed partitioning method of analyzing the texture of bone cross sections as a method to distinguish diseased bone from normal bone and to predict risk of fracture or osteoporosis.
