A New Generation of Polyetherpolyols and Copolymer Polyols for Car Seat Moulded Foams Meeting the Latest OEM's Requirements

The Automotive seating market is becoming increasingly a global one, and the major producers of seats and/or molded foam pads for car seats are requesting globally available, cost effective approaches to produce both seat cushions and the lower density back-rests meeting all the latest OEM's specifications especially those linked to comfort and durability, while at the same time being easy to process on various types of molding lines.rnTo meet these requirements, Dow Chemical has developed over the last years new families of SPECFLEX* reactive polyether polyols and high solids SAN Copolymer Polyols.rnThe paper will show how these new products can be used with either straight TDI 80/20 Isocyanate or blends of TDI and PMDI, adjusting recipes for different molding conditions to produce molded foams meeting the latest OEM's specifications at core densities ranging from 30 to 55 kg/m~3 .
