Supramolecular Architecture Based on POMs and Lanthanide Coordination Cations and Their Electrochemiluminescence Properties

Lanthanide complexes and composites as important luminescent materials are of growing interest, because their line-like emission bands and long lifetimes give them an advantage over conventional luminophors [1]. Polyoxometalates (POMs) are transition-metal oxides clusters that form stable sandwich compositions with lanthanide ions. Owing to their good stability and excellent ability to form very stable membrane, POMs are usually used as the charged anionic moieties to attract and bind multiple cations in self-assembled composites, and have been applied in a wide range of fields, e.g., catalysis, photochemistry, material science, and medicine [2-3]. However, these studies mainly focused on the properties of transition metal ions, including their electrochemistry and photochemistry behaviors. Little investigation has been done on their chemiluminescence (ECL) utilization.
