Henan HongKong Longquan Aluminum Co. Ltd. (LQAL) and Luoyang Tiansong Carbon Co. Ltd. (TSC) are located in Yichuan County, Luoyang, Henan Province, China. Both companies are owned by Yichuan Electrical Group. TSC produces prebaked carbon anodes. TSC, with a nameplate capacity of 120,000tpy, took twenty months to construct. LQAL is an aluminium smelter with a nameplate capacity of 200,000tpy. LQAL currently operates one SY300 potline. Anodes are supplied to the potline by TSC. The SY300 cell technology used by LQAL is the first 300kA potline in China. It is also the largest capacity potline in operation in China. The SY300 potline at LQAL took twelve months to construct, five months to successfully start-up the total of 256 pots and six months to reach the designed operating targets. Both technologies (the aluminium smelter and anode plant) were supplied by Shenyang Aluminium & Magnesium Engineering & Research Institute (SAMI), China. Both projects are praised as "miracles" in the aluminium industry of China.
