DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC PHYSICAL JOB EVALUATION TOOL

According to Washington State workers’compensation data, construction as an industryranked first in its compensable claims rate of workrelatedmusculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) injuries(Anderson, Adams, Bonauto, Howard, & Silverstein,2015). Many current physical job assessment toolsavailable for ergonomics practitioners to evaluatework-related musculoskeletal disorder risks of theback, shoulder, hand/wrist and knee are mostly ofgeneral purposes. This project sought to identify riskfactors pertinent to given industries. The constructionindustry is used as an example in this demonstration.
