Deployment of UHF RFID Label Antenna for Tagging Metallic Objects

Metal materials may degrade the performances of RFID systems by changing the characteristics of antennas, which result in a short read range. Different from other studies manag-ing to design special antenna surfaces to minish metal effects,this paper gives a deployment method which only changes the gap between the antenna and metal, and adds some medium to integ-rate them. By adjusting the gap's thickness, metal effect is less-ened and large gain is gained. Thus may improve the tag's read range. Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to simulate the tag's performance. Finally, theory analyses are also given.
