Nutrition is one of the main constraints for dairy goat production in the Sudan and foragerntrees pods are valuable feeds due to high nutritive value and low cost and can supplementrnrange plants. Sixteen Tagger does in the last month in gestation were used to study effects ofrndifferent percentages of A. tortilis and F. albida pods in rations on the performance of Taggerrndoes fed Lukh (Dichanthium annulatum) hay ad lib in 2 equal meals in the morning andrnafternoon. They were divided at random into four groups and allocated at random to diets.rnGroup A fed no pods (control), Group B was fed 25% A. tortilis and 75% F. albida pods,rnGroup C was fed 50% A. tortilis and 50% F. albida pods in pods and group D fed 75% A.rntortilis and 25% F. albida pods. Pods rations were fed in 2 meals before Lukh meals andrnrefusals were collected, weighed and stored. Samples of feeds and refusals were stored inrnbags for proximate analysis. Parameters studied were BW, BCS, milk yield and composition,rnbirth weight and water intake. Data was analyzed according to completely randomized designrnusing general linear method and Duncan’s multiple range test for means separation.A. tortilisrnhad higher CP, EE and ash and lower CF and NFE than F. albida. Lukh had low CP and NFErnand high CF and ash. Mixed pods increased prepartum BW and was highest in animals fed 75%rnA.tortilis. Mixed pods decreased Lukh DMI significantly (P<0.05). Mixed pods increasedrntotal DMI (TDMI) significantly (P<0.05) and was significantly highest (P<0.05) in animalsrnfed 50%A.tortilis pods. mean water intake was significantly (P<0.05) highest in animals fedrn75% A.tortilis pods. Mixed pods decreased mean postpartum BW and was highest in therncontrol. Mean TDMI significantly (P<0.05) increased by mixed pods and was significantly higher (P<0.05) in animals fed 75%A.tortilis pods and least in the control. Mean milk yieldrnwas not significantly affected (P>0.05) by pods percentages and was highest in animals fedrn75%A.tortilis pods. Lactation period was least sin the control (21 days) than pods fed animalsrn(49 days). Total solids, BF were not significantly affected with pods percentages and werernhighest in animals fed 25% A.tortilis pods. Crude protein was significantly (P<0.05) affectedrnwith pods percentages and was highest in animals fed 50% A.tortilis pods. Ash was notrnsignificantly affected with pods percentages and was highest in the control. Lactosernsignificantly highest (P<0.05) in animals fed 25% A. tortilis pods and least in animals fed 50%rnA. tortilis pods. Overall mean kids birth weight was 1.65±0.16kh and was significantlyrn(P<0.05) highest in animals fed 50%and 75% A. tortilis and least in the control. It wasrnsignificantly (P<0.05) higher in twins than singles and females than males. Overall meanrnwater intake was not significantly affected with pods percentages and was highest in therncontrol.
