Fouling and cleaning of nanofiltration membrane for skim milk processing

A study has been carried out on the performance of nanofiltration membrane (Dow NF45) for skim milk processing using a DDS LAB20 pilot plant unit. A reverse osmosis membrane (Dow HR95) was used in comparison runs. Flux rates were used to calculate fouling indexes. From data with other liquids, it was possible to calculate individual resistances, using the resistance- in- series model previously developed for Ultrafiltration (1).
