Preliminary works related with the mix design development for Enciso dam were presented in the last RCC Symposium in Zaragoza 2012 in Spain.By that time the project entered into a stand-by situation due to budget cuts derived from the challenging economical situation.Finally concrete placement could start in the dam at the end of August 2014.The first section with a volume of 170 000 m3 was placed in the river bed in 2.5 months.After the winter close down placement has resumed and further180 000 m3 were placed in 60 working days until middle of June 2015.This article revisits the immersion vibrated RCC (Ⅳ-RCC) mix design development and describes further investigations that have been carried out at the site prior to the start of the placement in the dam.One important pending issue was to define the dosages of the selected retarder admixture under different environmental conditions.In addition further tests were required to confirm the mix properties using the actual materials that were going to be used in the dam.The information generated by the quality control records during dam constructionis also presented and analysed in this paper.This includes not only fresh and hardened properties measured on specimens but also the results of a preliminary coring and testing programme that has been conducted during the winter break.
