Unifying Systems Engineering Through the System Record

摘要

Managing the information and processes that are intrinsic to systems engineering efforts requiresrnthe identification and control of a range of enterprise data. This paper presents an approach tornsystems engineering management that is based on the concept of the "system record." Byrncapturing and managing the system record, an organization gains visibility into the five majorrncontent areas that feed the systems engineering effort and integrates these content areas within arnmanaged process from the concept phase through retirement. Intrinsic to this approach is thernability to operate on system engineering content from the highest system level to the detailedrncomponent level within the context of both process and content interrelationships. Examples ofrnhow the system record concept can be utilized in system engineering projects are included.
