Object-oriented analysis and design methods are becoming predominant in thernsystems engineering workplace. One result is that object-oriented analysis (OOA) mayrncome to replace older structured analysis (SA) methods traditionally used by systemsrnengineers. Another result is that assertions are sometimes found in the literature claimingrnor implying that object-oriented analysis methods are uniformly better than structuredrnanalysis methods. But if OOA and SA are homeomorphic, a systems engineer shouldrnchoose to work with the analysis methods and representations that are most effective andrnconvenient to solve specific problems of interest.rnA substantially complete invertible mapping is presented in this paper to serve asrnevidence that OOA and SA are homeomorphic. A characterization of the kinds ofrnproblems better suited to one domain than the other is included in the paper.
