摘要

The surface of a cast iron roller was scanned rapidly by use of tungsten electrode argon -are beam so that a thin layer at the surface reached a high temperature immediately. Then a modified layer was obtained after it was quenched by the matrix. In this experiment, the structure, properties, depth and surface roughness of the modified layer were studied, and the technical parameters and applied situations were discussed.
