摘要

This paper examines to what extent different learning contexts informrngrammar acquisition of Chinese adult learners of English. The research wasrnconducted in London and Chongqing within a different framework that acknowledgesrnthe role of context from a perspective of the general theory of second languagernacquisition. The results partly supported the hypothesis that Chinese adult learnersrnimprove grammar acquisition much more quickly when they are exposed to the targetrnlanguage context. The implications derived from the findings are of some pedagogicalrnsignificance to the teaching of English.
