摘要

Today, so much is measured! We are constantly challengingrnourselves for better, faster and more efficient results.rnHowever, the way we count our incident statistics is notrnconsistent, and all of us, in all industries, are measured againstrnthese indicators. Future jobs, contracts and, in many cases, rnpersonal incentives ride on these numbers.rnThis paper exposes some of the differences in therndefinitions and resulting frequency rates. The intent is tornhighlight the differences in the numbers for which we arernresponsible. Minor definitional differences show howrnfrequency rates can be affected, especially whenrnmaking comparisons.rnThis paper also stresses the need to move forward withrnthe development of a standard reporting system. We know thatrnwe must continue to reduce incidents. However, to trulyrnmeasure performance, we must first acknowledge the incident, rnmeasure consistently and accurately, and then promoternmeasures to prevent recurrence.
