摘要

At the Fort Knox Mine, Fairbanks, Alaska, carbonrnfines are generated during stripping, acid washingrnand kiln regeneration operations. Carbon fines arerncollected by a filter press because of their goldrnvalue. Samples of the carbon fines show that theyrnconsist of 20-30% carbon, 70-80% grit and 0.17-rn0.68 kg/t (5.0-19.9 oz/st) gold. About 80% of therngold values in the carbon fines used in this study arernin a form of recrystallized free gold grains, with thernbalance being adsorbed gold on the carbon. Highrnrecoveries of gold and carbon were obtained inrnlaboratory tests using froth flotation, with a highrnrejection of the grit.
