Commercial Agriculture, Traditional Religious Beliefs and Local Natural Resources Management: Some Lessons from the Forest-Savanna Transition of Ghana

摘要

This paper discusses the commercialisation of agriculture and its effect on traditional natural resources management practices. It concludes that policies for poverty reduction that target commercial agriculture or producing for the market at the expense of supporting and facilitating efficiency and productivity of small scale subsistence farming, may eventually entrench poverty among majority of rural farmers.
