Will It Still Be Useful to Undertake New Ergonomic Research in the Future?

Developments in the world of work in the present framework are marked by considerable reduction in the size of the industrial and commercial work market brought about principally by progress in automation and computers and, to a lesser extent, by globalisation. Against this backdrop, certain commentators suggest that a "reserve army" of potential employees will be created which will be large enough to replace those who have been overly quickly "worn out". Determined support for technological innovation to the detriment of the human dimension involved in work practices is nevertheless counterbalanced by a number of regulatory processes independently of changes in technological paradigm. These regulatory processes authorise the development of ergonomic research benefiting the world at work.
