Basic Concept on Orally Disintegrating Film

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to clarify the fundamental preparation technique of the newest solid dosage form, orally disintegrating film, to design pharmaceutical film with active drug, and to develop the evaluation method. Methods: Pharmaceutical films were prepared with the casting/solvent evaporation method. Formulations were designed with the watersoluble polymer and some excipients. Results: Morphological properties and the types of excipients in films influenced the properties of films markedly. Some evaluation methods could be examined. Conclusion: The applicability and possibilities of pharmaceutical films required further investigation and development of evaluation method for films.
