The mechanical behavior of salt and salt caverns

摘要

Several remarkable features of the mechanical behavior of salt caverns are presented. How thesernfeatures can be explained by laboratory experiments and micro-mechanical investigations is discussed. Otherrnaspects of the mechanical behavior of salt (slow strain rates, humidity, temperature, stress triaxiality, transientrncreep and salt failure) are analyzed.
