RECYCLED AGGREGATE STANDARDIZATION IN BRAZIL

Competition in the national market is a factor that requires specifications of high technologic standards, as the need to meet the demands of the Consumer's Protection and Defense Code. Standardization brings benefits to both producers and consumers. The standardization process for utilization of recycled aggregate in Brazil is becoming reality by initiative of SindusConSP - Civil Construction Industry Syndicate on Sao Paulo State and IBRACON - Brazilian Concrete Institute, through its Technical Committee - CT 206 - Environment. Standardization of construction residues provides more efficient means for the exchange of information between manufacturer and client, increasing the reliability in commercial and service relations, reduces inadequate procedures, bring economical benefits to producer and consumer and protection to human health. The basic texts are being discussed in the CE - Studies Commission of the ABNT - Brazilian Association for Technical Standards. This paper presents the stage where the studies for obtaining in the near future the standardization of recycled aggregates to be utilized in laying pavements, concrete without structural function and concrete with structural function, are as of this moment. The standards that are being elaborated by the CB-18 of ABNT refer to the Selection and Transfer Area, parameter for recycled aggregate for pavement and concrete.
